To my valued patients,
It is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from practicing orthodontics effective December 31, 2019. I have very much enjoyed the ability to change people’s lives through orthodontic therapy, but my personal health has become a real challenge and needs to be addressed. After many years of practice, I have been struggling to manage a significant lower back problem due to scoliosis. While I look forward to the next phase in my life, I will miss a career about which I am truly passionate.
In announcing my retirement, I would like to thank the many families who have entrusted me with their orthodontic care. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to serve as your orthodontist for 29 years and will always appreciate your trust. Many of you I treated as children, and I now have had the opportunity to be treating your own children. We have created many memorable smiles that should be a great source of pride and confidence for your future. I have tremendous gratitude for the confidence you have placed in me. With the highest integrity, I have always given my best effort to provide quality treatment. I will miss our regular association with each other, considering you to be not only patients, but also friends.
I am grateful for my association first with W. Baxter Perkinson, Jr. DDS and Associates and now with Virginia Family Dentistry. As a partner in the largest dental group in Virginia, I have had many opportunities to develop my knowledge and skills in a multidisciplinary practice. We have striven to provide a culture of quality and care, always with the patient’s welfare and best treatment as our first priority. I leave with total confidence in Dr. Taylor Varner who will continue the excellence of your orthodontic care. She and I have spent many hours discussing your case so that the transfer of treatment will be smooth and continuous. Dr. Varner and our entire team of doctors will continue to care for your dental health, and I invite you to continue your association with our office.
I will always cherish our time of working together, hoping we will have the occasion to see each other again. Developing wonderful relationships and making many new friends have been some of the best highlights of my career. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served you and your family, and wish all of you the very best in the future. I will truly miss all of you. You have meant more to me than you know, and I thank you!
Sincerely,
