“Children are just the best! I enjoy every day playing a small role in their overall health and well-being. Whether it’s relieving a child of dental pain or watching a kid’s apprehension turn to enjoyment, I feel lucky to be a part of their lives. If I can improve
their oral health then I know I am making a difference in their ability to grow and develop, learn in school, and live a life free of pain and infection.”
Dr. Laughlin’s commitment to children is apparent in many of his professional and personal activities. He is credited with several textbook contributions and journal publications, along with academic presentations, regarding early childhood oral health and access to dental care for low socioeconomic kids. He received the Columbia University award for Divisional Excellence in Community Health, and has spent much of his personal time providing dental care to children in Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Guatamala.
When not working, he loves traveling, soccer, and spending time with his wife, Anna, and their 3 wild children, Charlie, Garnes, and Helena.
