Dr. Rocío López was born in Cali, Colombia. She attended the Universidad de Cartagena, Colombia where she received her dental degree in 1996. After completing one year of Social Service, she entered the two year program in Health Care Administration at Universidad Javeriana in Cali, Colombia. Following graduation she moved to Bogota where she completed the three year masters program in Prosthodontics at Universidad Javeriana. Dr. López opened a private specialty practice in Prosthodontics in Bogota, taught at two local dental schools, and delivered lectures in different countries around the world.
In 2006, Dr. López immigrated to United States. After completing all the required exams and the International Dental Program, she received her American Dental License (DDS) from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond in 2012 and earned several prestigious awards for excellence in dentistry.
Throughout her career, she has accumulated hundreds of hours in continuing education. Dr. López has over 20 years experience as a cosmetic-full mouth rehabilitation dentist, and keeps up to date in the latest technologies. Her expertise includes treatments like esthetic fillings, smile designs, fixed restorations like crown, bridge, veneers, implants, removable restorations like dentures and removable partials, implant-supported restorations, management of Bruxism, temporo-mandibular pain and disorders, and sleep apnea, among others. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Richmond Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
In her spare time Dr. López devotes her time and talents to her husband, Alexander Hernandez, who is also a dentist, and two daughters, Gabriela and Sofia; her hobbies include tennis, travel, and hiking. She also volunteers her time and dental skills to help people in need.
