Kit Tucker Sullivan grew up in Bedford County, Virginia, and is a graduate of the University of Richmond and the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry. She was the first female President of the Virginia Academy of General Dentistry and holds a fellowship in that organization. Kit is also active in the Richmond Dental Society, MCV Alumni Association and the MCV Foundation. She enjoys being a dentist and has been with Virginia Family Dentistry for over 30 years.
Growing up in a rural area of Virginia, Kit and her family only visited the dentist when they were in pain. This led to many traumatic visits and extensive dental treatment. “My favorite aspect of being a dentist is showing patients that it doesn’t have to be painful to have dental work done”, she says. “There are many techniques now that allow dentistry to be done almost completely painlessly!”
Kit’s sub-specialty is cosmetic dentistry—bonding, veneers, bridges, crowns and implants. “I love to improve the appearance of my patients’ teeth, and there are many refinements in dental care today—new white fillings instead of silver, bonding, veneers and implants to replace missing teeth. It’s such a pleasure to offer patients the valuable asset of a great smile, says Sullivan.
Kit is the proud mother of four children and five grandchildren. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, gardening, flower arranging, volunteering at the Methodist Home, and traveling.
