Anthony Schaapman is from Chesterfield, Virginia, and has lived in the area his entire life. He studied at Virginia Commonwealth University for his Undergraduate degree, where he Majored in Biology and Minored in Chemistry. He was privileged to be accepted early into dental school through the Guaranteed Admissions program at the Honors College at VCU. His Dental education was also obtained at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Schaapman’s interests are in cosmetics and surgery in order to shape and change people’s lives through their smile.
Dr. Schaapman first became interested in dentistry around the age of 12. Around age 16, he entered a technical program for dental assisting to be more involved in dentistry, and this is where his love for the field expanded the most. He shadowed and worked at Virginia Family Dentistry where he was exposed to the team-based environment and friendliness that VFD has to offer. His early exposure drew him to begin working at Virginia Family Dentistry right after Dental school.
Some of Dr. Schaapman’s interests include playing the piano and continuing his education in dentistry. Outside of the home, he participates in basketball and loves to be social with friends and family.
