What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an alternative treatment to traditional braces that straightens teeth and corrects bite using a series of clear aligners. These comfortable aligners are nearly invisible to the naked eye and are removable.
How does Invisalign work?
Before the start of treatment, the orthodontist will take a digital scan of your teeth using the iTero Scanner. The orthodontist will be able to plan small, precisely timed movements to your teeth on the digital model until a correct bite and straight teeth are achieved.
These movements on the digital model will be created into a series of customized clear plastic aligners. You will visit the orthodontist every few months to receive a new series of aligners. Typically each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks before moving to the next one.
In the video below, Dr. Allison Purcell explains Invisalign from start to finish.
Who can be treated with Invisalign?
In most cases, Invisalign treatment is just as effective in correcting bite and straightening teeth as traditional braces. New technology and changes to the Invisalign process over the years has made it an effective treatment option for mild to severe cases of underbite, overbite, overcrowding and gaps between teeth.
Adults are not the only patients who can be treated with Invisalign! Invisalign teen is specially created with active and responsible teenagers in mind.
A consultation with the Orthodontist will determine if you or your teen can be treated with with Invisalign.
What are the benefits of Invisalign treatment?
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are clear, nearly invisible trays. These trays are removed during eating or drinking so there are no food restrictions. There are fewer appointments required during Invisalign treatment as wires and brackets do not need to be adjusted. Invisalign allows you to go about your life normally!
