What is Invisalign Teen?
Invisalign Teen is a treatment method to correct a bite without wires or brackets. Invisalign is a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners that gradually move teeth to correct bite and straighten teeth.
What is the difference between Invisalign Teen and traditional braces?
Both Invisalign and traditional braces will gradually shift teeth into alignment and correct bite issues. However, traditional braces are more noticeable and require more orthodontic appointments to adjust wires. Invisalign is a series of clear plastic aligners that are changed out every two weeks.
There are fewer orthodontic appointments with Invisalign as wire adjustments are not needed, and emergencies such as broken brackets or poking wires are virtually nonexistent. Patients with Invisalign also do not have the food restrictions that exist with braces, as the aligners are taken out to eat.
How do I know if my teen is a candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign Teen is great for responsible teens, especially those who are athletes. Traditional braces require athletes to wear mouthguards during games or competitions to prevent emergencies. Invisalign can be worn or taken out during athletics.

How long does my teen have to wear the aligners?
Treatment time with Invisalign is usually about the same as treatment with braces. The orthodontist will determine the treatment duration that is right for your teen.
During treatment, the aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day.
What if my teen loses an aligner?
Not a problem! The Invisalign teen program offers six free replacement aligners during treatment. Please call us right away if an aligner is lost.
