Dr. Dennis Wong has announced that he will be retiring at the end of 2026. Read on for his letter to patients.
Dear patients, friends, and colleagues,
After 36 wonderful years of practicing dentistry, the time has come for me to retire and begin a new chapter in life. This decision has been one of the most difficult of my career, but after multiple back surgeries, I have realized it is the right time to step away from practice earlier than I originally planned.
Dentistry has been far more than a profession to me—it has been a lifelong passion and an incredible privilege. As I reflect on these years, I am filled with gratitude for the trust, loyalty, and friendship that so many of you have shared with me.
It has been an honor to care for generations of families, watch children grow up, and build meaningful relationships. I sincerely thank my patients for allowing me to be part of their lives and for trusting me with their dental care. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to my staff, colleagues, mentors, friends, and family who supported me throughout this journey. Your dedication, encouragement, and friendship helped make my career truly meaningful. I am confident that the doctors at the Atlee location, Dr. Colleen Nash, Dr. John Buhler, Dr. Danny Garcha, and Dr. Jarrett Adkins, will continue to provide you with the friendly and high-quality dental care that you are used to receiving.
Although I am saddened to leave a profession and community that I love so dearly, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and memories that I will always treasure. I look forward to spending more time with my beautiful wife, Alayna, and our four children and seven grandchildren. We have many plans to travel, attend more T-ball practices and dance recitals, and continue to support our community through local nonprofit volunteering. I will also continue to support Virginia Family Dentistry’s mission and core values through training and mentoring. I hope to see many of you while out and about.
Thank you again for your support, trust, loyalty, and friendship throughout these many years. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve this community.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dr. Dennis C. Wong
