Join us in welcoming our newest board certified periodontist, Dr. Carl Block, to Virginia Family Dentistry. After 23 years as a solo practitioner, Dr. Block and his staff have joined Dr. Stephanie Voth at our Midlothian/288 location. We are excited to have him join the family and know he will continue to elevate the standard of care our patients have come to expect.
Dr. Block will move to the Midlothian/288 office on January 26th 2015 and will be available for appointments Mondays-Thursdays.
Dr. Block graduated from the University of Arizona for his pre-doctoral training, followed by a one year internship at Baylor College of Dentistry. He attained his doctorate in dental surgery from MCV in 1989, graduating cum laude. His surgical residency training was completed at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. Since then he has been in private practice in Midlothian, teaching at VCU School of Dentistry’s Department of Periodontics, and is active in clinical research.
Dr. Block is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, meaning that he is a board certified specialist – the highest recognition offered by his specialty. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Osseointegration and was voted “one of Richmond’s top periodontists,” as published in Richmond Magazine and Virginia Living Magazine. Dr. Block is also on the editorial board of the Virginia Dental Journal.
Dr. Block is the founder and president of the James River Study Club, a continuing education forum for dentists and staff which has been in existence since 1992.
In his free time he does crossfit and is a culinary enthusiast with a special interest in nutritional sciences. Dr. Block enjoys spending time with his three daughters. He is especially proud of their accomplishments as his first daughter is a pediatric nurse, his second daughter is attending VCU School of Dentistry and his third daughter is in the Pre-Med Program at the University of Oregon.
