General Dentist at Virginia Family Dentistry Staples Mill | Practicing Since 2020
Dr. Maria Isabel Correa Giraldo was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia, where she earned her dental degree after five years of dental school at the University of Antioquia. Upon graduation, she moved to the United States, and completed a three-year International Dental Program at Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her DDS degree. Dr. Correa graduated near the top of her class, received scholarships along the way, and was selected among a small group of senior dental students for intensive training in prosthodontics during her final year. Continuing Education is one of her top priorities to continue to serve her patients to the best of her ability, maintaining her skills and knowledge up to date.
Providing dental care to underserved populations is a lifelong commitment for Dr. Maria. She has traveled to Jamaica to offer dental services to those in need, volunteered through the Virginia Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy Projects, and enjoyed serving multiple free clinics around the Commonwealth during her senior year of Dental School. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Richmond Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentists.
Dr. Maria, as she likes the patients to call her, enjoys and values building long-term relationships with her patients. She feels a responsibility to serve the Hispanic community and to provide dental care with respect and compassion.
In her free time, Dr. Maria enjoys spending time with her husband, children, family, and friends. She enjoys a good book or podcast, exploring new restaurants around Richmond, going on hikes, road trips, working out, and traveling.
