Dr. Joanna Scott grew up in Arlington, Virginia surrounded by physicians, and was always interested in healthcare and, particularly, patient care. Dr. Scott graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. She then completed her Doctorate in dental surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. In dental school, Dr. Scott found a true passion for surgical procedures and the long term care of patients. Her favorite part of practice is the opportunity to see her patients through many seasons of life. Because of this, she went on to earn her specialty certificate and Master’s degree in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry from her alma mater, VCU. Dr. Scott is a board-eligible Periodontist, and plans to complete her board certification in April of 2027.
Dr. Scott is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Richmond Dental Society, the Virginia Society of Periodontists, and the Southern Academy of Periodontology. She has also spent time volunteering at the Wise County Missions of Mercy Projects and hopes to continue to be involved in the provision of free and low cost dental care to those in need in the state of Virginia.
In her free time, Dr. Scott loves to be outside with her dog, Lasso, and husband, Brady, hiking and playing tennis or pickleball. She also enjoys cooking and eating delicious food with friends.
