Dr. Ethan Puryear was born and raised in Wadesboro, NC. Dr. Ethan holds a history degree from NC State University and biology degree from the University of NC Greensboro. After graduating from NC State University, he worked full-time for the YMCA of the Triangle in youth programs where he developed a passion for working with children. Dr. Ethan also spent time on the crystal coast of North Carolina working at Camps Seafarer and Sea Gull. He is known for his quick wit, song leading skills, and ability to create fun wherever he goes.
He completed both his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at VCU. During his time at VCU Dr. Ethan was very involved with Give a Kid a Smile, early childhood dental education, and the M.O.M. project. His work with the Child Health Investment Partnership of Roanoke Valley in dental school and residency inspired him to start his career practicing in the New River Valley of Southwest Virginia following residency. He and his wife E.A., and four daughters are excited to be back in the Richmond area. He is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
What Dr. Ethan enjoys most about being a pediatric dentist is making dental care fun and enjoyable for children. He believes that striving for optimal oral health in childhood builds the foundation for a lifetime of excellent oral health. When he is not in the office Dr. Ethan enjoys hiking, biking, cooking, and spending time with his family.
