Dr. Erik Roper received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Bridgewater College and Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) from Medical College of Virginia (VCU). He graduated Cum Laude and went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency (AEGD) with the United States Air Force. Through the residency, he became proficient in advance dental techniques and certified in the utilization of IV Conscious Sedation for various surgical and general dentistry procedures.
Dr. Roper joined Virginia Family Dentistry at the Mechanicsville location in 1994. Having served multiple generations of patients there, Dr. Roper now enjoys developing the growing location of New Kent-Quinton.
Dr. Roper is very committed to continuing education, organized dentistry and community service. With over 1500 hours in continuing education, he earned his Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) and actively participates in several local study clubs. Dr. Roper is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Richmond Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Roper has been a dedicated service provider in the Hanover Interfaith Free Dental Clinic since its creation in 2009.
After a wonderful 31-year career with Virginia Family Dentistry, Dr. Roper retired in 2025. Dr. Roper enjoys traveling and tandem cycling with his wife. He enjoys being active in nature, especially sailing and water sports. He enjoys any opportunity to spend time with family, especially his three adult children.
