Dr. Brandon Wong was born and raised locally in Hanover, Virginia. After receiving his degree in Biology from James Madison University, he graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine. While in Boston for dental school, he also met his beautiful wife, Dr. Krysten Herrero, who graduated alongside him at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. The two of them returned to Richmond following graduation from dental school to begin private practice.
Dr. Wong has been trained to provide comprehensive care to his patients, and strives to educate his patients in oral hygiene and prevention of disease states of the oral cavity. He also believes that having his patients play an active role in their oral care and understanding every step along the way is important to achieving an optimum outcome. Dr. Wong has a passion for aesthetic dentistry, advanced crown and bridge, implant dentistry, and full mouth reconstruction. He offers various sedation options for patients who are anxious about their dental treatment. He is a strong advocate of keeping up to date with current advancements and innovations in dentistry. He attends numerous continuing education courses both locally and nationally and participates in quarterly peer-led evidence based literature reviews of current research and technology in dentistry. Dr. Wong utilizes the latest advancements in digital dentistry and 3-D scanning to provide patients with new and current treatment options in the ever-evolving world of dentistry. He provides a wide variety of treatment options including whitening and bleaching, fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges, extractions, wisdom teeth extractions, root canals, implants, and many more.
Dr. Wong is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the James River Study Club. Both Dr. Wong and his wife are passionate about using their skills and talents in dentistry to give back to the community and change the lives of those in need. With an entire tight-knit medical team, they travel to Mindo, Ecuador each year on a mission trip through a non-profit organization called “Mindo Futures.” They provide dental treatment to patients who do not have the means to access health care. Dr. Wong and his wife are consistent volunteers at the Mechanicsville Free Dental Clinic through Hanover Interfaith Free Clinics, where they treat patients and teach 4th year dental students from VCU School of Dentistry. Dr. Wong has training through The Dawson Academy in restoration of complex anterior cases through minimally invasive dentistry and veneers, as well as training from the Zimmer Institute on restoration of complex anterior implant cases.
Outside of the dental office, you will find Dr. Wong at Heights Church singing on the worship team on Sunday. He is passionate about his faith, and loves spending his free time serving at his church. He also enjoys personal fitness, playing competitive sports, snowboarding, hiking and camping. He and his wife enjoy exploring various restaurants across Richmond and spending time outdoors with their golden doodle, Bard.
