Endodontic Procedures
Our Endodontists provide a range of procedures for Virginia Family Dentistry patients.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy treats infection or damage inside a tooth by removing the infected pulp, cleaning and shaping the canals, and sealing them to prevent further problems. This treatment relieves pain and helps preserve the natural tooth, allowing it to function normally for years to come.
Endodontic Retreatment
Endodontic retreatment is a procedure to fix a tooth that has already had a root canal but hasn’t healed properly or has developed new issues. The tooth is carefully reopened, cleaned, and sealed again to help save it and relieve discomfort.
Apicoectomy
An apicoectomy is a minor surgical procedure performed when a root canal treatment alone is insufficient to resolve an infection. The endodontist removes the tip of the tooth’s root and any infected tissue, then seals the area to help save the tooth and prevent further problems.
Cracked Teeth
Endodontists can often save a cracked tooth by treating the inside of the tooth with a root canal to remove any damaged tissue, then sealing and protecting it so it can function normally. In many cases, the tooth is restored with a crown to keep it strong and prevent further damage.
Traumatic Injuries
Endodontists treat traumatic dental injuries by carefully repairing the tooth, treating any damage inside the root, and taking steps to save and stabilize it. Their specialized care helps protect the tooth’s long-term health and restore your smile after an accident.
Sedation Dentistry
Endodontists may utilize sedation dentistry to help patients feel calm and comfortable during procedures. This allows anxious patients or those needing complex treatment to relax while receiving the care they need to save their teeth.
