Dr. Sharkey moved south to Richmond, Virginia, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. It was in dental school where she found her love for providing dental care to the underserved populations, both locally through Mission of Mercy projects throughout Virginia, as well as internationally to the communities of Jamaica. After graduation, Dr. Sharkey continued to move south to Florida where she completed a year-long residency at The University of Florida’s program in St. Petersburg. During her short time in St. Pete, she attended several hours of continuing education, including several occlusion courses with The Dawson Academy, and a year-long implant continuum through which she earned her fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Sharkey later went on to earn her license to administer sedation, a service that allows for smoother, safer more comfortable treatment to better serve patients with dental anxiety and special needs.

Dr. Sharkey is an active member of the AGD, ICOI, ADA, and the Richmond Dental Society. In 2021, she became a Fellow of the AGD, a designation only 6% of dentists in North America achieve. She is excited to continue to give back to the community and looks forward to establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with her patients through an extraordinary level of comfort, trust, and communication. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Sharkey enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog, Finley. She enjoys traveling, listening to live music, and watching sports.
