Dr. Tyler Perkinson was born the youngest son of Dr. Baxter Perkinson and raised in Richmond. After graduating from the University of Virginia, Dr. Perkinson attended VCU School of Dentistry, the third of his siblings to attain a DDS degree. Dr. Perkinson is quick to dismiss the idea that there was any family pressure to become a dentist. “More than anything, I think we were all exposed to the profession to a point where we could make intelligent, independent decisions,” commented Dr. Perkinson. “I personally was always drawn to the artistic aspect of dentistry. The design and eventual realization of a beautiful smile is a challenge that draws on both art and science in equal measures. As a practitioner, I find that very compelling.”
Dr. Perkinson has always been intent on expanding and refining his dental knowledge. After graduation from dental school, he spent a year studying under Dr. Baxter Perkinson, learning the subtleties involved in full mouth rehabilitation, occlusion, and implant dentistry. He has logged over one hundred hours of continued education in the surgical placement and restoration of dental implants. He prides himself in staying on the cutting edge of dentistry.
Dr. Perkinson offers sedation appointments and is dedicated to pain-free dentistry. His patience and kindness makes him well suited to working with those who might otherwise avoid treatment. “It’s a terrible shame when fear keeps people from getting the dentistry they need. In the end, it’s all about trying to give patients a better experience.”
